The Bay of Plenty District Health Board is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Health & Safety Advisor to be based out of the Whakatane Hospital.
This is a full time permanent position.
In this position you will have responsibility for designated projects and provide advice for a portfolio of business units.
You will be responsible for the delivery of a safe working strategy. This position works proactively with managers, leaders and staff to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of healthy living and health and safety.
Providing health and safety technical advice and guidance to line managers and staff across the BOPDHB
Supporting the organisation to deliver and operationalise the Health and Safety Management System
Promoting a proactive health and safety culture across the organisation
Leading or supporting the development and implementation of health and safety initiatives and programmes
Oversight of Health and Safety committees
Design and delivery of health and safety related training
Experienced in incident investigations
Providing technical expertise on the changes to H&S Legislation and WorkSafe NZ expectations
Qualification (Diploma or Level 6) or equivalent in health and safety
At least three years proven experience in a health and safety advisor role
High level of technical health and safety competence
Experience in safety event investigation and causal analysis
Knowledge of relevant NZ legislation and audit standards
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent time management and the ability to self-manage
Experience in training, facilitating and presenting to large groups
Ideally you will also have recent experience with risk management
