We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Pilot to join our experienced Fixed Wing Top Dressing team in providing aerial application of fertiliser from the Waikato to Southland.

The preferred location for this position is at our Whanganui Aerowork base, however for the right candidate, we will consider alternative locations.

About the role

Reporting to the Aerowork Business Manager (CEO) you will lead a passionate and talented team of agricultural aviation experts while ensuring we meet CAA requirements, and we provide customer service excellence.

The operations team consists of Pilots (including Trainee), a new Operations Trainer role, Area Manager and Agri Fixed Wing Ground Support roles (aircraft loader drivers)

Ravensdown Aerowork is focused on adding value to customers by delivering precision fertiliser application services. There are a number of improvements in the pipeline for its aircraft, loader fleet and is also looking to implement a number of system improvements to automate the administration of the business.

You aren't expected to do all the work but your guidance and leadership as the Chief Pilot will be critical to ensuring we're doing the right things at the right time.

Technology plays a critical role in delivering customer value and the successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively with the IT development team to ensure the technology not only adds value to our customers but also meets the needs of our operations team.

You will be in the fortunate position of being able to collaborate with our Engineering Manager and Infrastructure manager to utilise our aircraft maintenance hanger and truck maintenance shop to drive consistency, improve the aircraft and its systems.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have :

  • Has the appropriate practical experience to become a CAA approved Chief Pilot
  • An understanding of the aerial topdressing industry
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to provide clear expectations and direction to staff
  • Willingness to collaborate and work closely with varying groups
  • Excellent attention to Health & Safety
  • A positive, responsible, can-do attitude
  • Desirable :

  • P&L management with budgeting and forecasting experience advantageous
