About the role

As a Development Engineer in Rocket Lab’s Propulsion Team you will work a very diverse role comprising; CAD drafting, data analysis, hands-on "factory floor" testing, and much more.

Your team contribute to the ongoing development of Rocket Lab's Rutherford & Curie engines to tight deadlines in order to deliver our launch projects on time.

You will need theoretical engineering and industry concepts to navigate and complete daily tasks, and create technical documentation, whilst taking ownership for your assigned tasks.

Everyone works on the big stuff here. This isn’t a huge aerospace company where you get lost in bureaucracy and end up a tiny cog in a giant machine.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelors or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 2+ years experience of engineering projects, from conception to success
  • Experience with high performance engines including hands-on testing, repair, refurbishment
  • Strong knowledge of CAD tools and drafting processes
  • Experience working with two or more of the analysis types below
  • Structural static and / or non-linear
  • Modal and / or frequency domain
  • Computational fluid dynamics
  • Heat transfer or thermal
  • Fatigue and / or creep
  • DFMEA / PFMEA / DMAIC
  • Preferred Skills

  • Rocket or Propulsion experience from University or in your spare time
