Are you an RN with recent experience in PACU looking for some extra work? We're looking for RNs with current acute skills for casual positions.

Our PACU teams work across both Mercy and Ascot sites and the opening hours of the units are 0730 - 2030, primaril y Mon-Fri, plus occasional weekends.

Our surgical specialties at MercyAscot include : General, Ortho (incl spinal), Neuro, Uro, ORL (incl head and neck), Cardiac, Gynae, and Plastics.

As an RN in PACU you'll be recovering both adult and paediatric cases. Your acute care experience, will allow you to think on your feet, and make effective decisions.

You'll be confident in your practice, and demonstrate excellent assessment skills based on your acute surgical knowledge, and this knowledge and experience will ensure that you always advocate for your patients to ensure optimal outcomes.

You will also have :

  • A minimum of (1-2) years recent clinical experience in a PACU / ICU / HDU (adult and / or paediatric)
  • Experience recovering the unconscious patient and managing airway
  • A current Annual Practicing Certificate with Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • A flexible approach to work - as you may also be working in the Day Stay areas from time to time
  • Great communication skills and the ability to cope with a busy and ever changing environment
  • A positive, proactive and flexible attitude
  • ideally) Certification in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS level 6) and / or certified in paediatric advanced life support (PALS)
