Auckland Unlimited (AUL) is an Auckland Council-Controlled Organisation (CCO) established with an important mandate to drive investment, supporting Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland businesses to innovate and thrive, enhancing Auckland as a culturally & economically vibrant city, telling the Tāmaki Makaurau story, and importantly providing experiences and opportunities for all.

As the Climate Change and Sustainability Executive, you will be part of the Climate Innovation & Sustainability team at Auckland Unlimited assisting the team with the development and implementation of strategies and policies like the Auckland Plan and Te Tāruke-ā- Tāwhiri : Auckland’s Climate Plan, that enhance sustainability outcomes for Auckland Unlimited.

In addition, you will be supporting the establishment, development, and growth of the Climate Innovation Hub. The Climate Innovation Hub is part of the Long-Term Plan’s Climate Action Investment package that aims to activate climate innovation through collaboration with key stakeholders for an equitable, climate-resilient and low-carbon Tamaki Makaurau.

The Climate Change & Sustainability Executive contributes to Auckland Unlimited’s mission to embed sustainability principles providing sustainability research, advice & support to align work to Auckland’s Climate Action plan and narrative, across the organisation.

He kōrero mōu : About you

  • As a natural collaborator with a solid understanding of local government environment and excellent written and verbal skills, along with the ability to bring multiple parties together to achieve broader outcomes, some of your key responsibilities will be to;
  • Undertake research into key topics such as sustainable tourism, climate change & tourism emissions impacts and synthesising complex and extensive information into an informative and accessible form of utility to decision-makers.
  • Co-ordinate projects across the Climate Innovation and Sustainability team & support in the contract and financial management of projects.
  • Analyse and report on emission measurements for Major Events and support the events team to develop capability in areas of climate change & sustainability.
  • Communicate effectively and increase organisation-wide engagement and action on sustainability.
  • As a naturally self-motivated team player, you will be passionate about sustainability and driven to deliver outcomes, and you will be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary, cross-sector partnership environment.

    Ideally you will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree qualification preferably in sustainability or relevant experience with at least 3 years relationship management.

    A proven analytical ability, understanding data and reporting, along with your ability to write reports and document knowledge and learnings is the key to securing this role.
