Our Gracefield, Lower Hutt based Data and IoT Solutions team is seeking a self-motivated, energetic individual who is looking for a challenge to provide digital and statistical signal processing expertise for near to market wireless communication systems solutions for a variety of internal, national and international clients.
While working in this team the successful applicant must be prepared to perform a variety of theoretical and analytical tasks while still being willing to 'get their hands dirty' with device construction.
They must have a proven aptitude for problem solving - this is key to the role. The position will also be accountable for working closely with the team to meet project outcomes.
The role would suit a qualified Electronics / Communications / Computer engineer with experience in digital wireless communications, signal processing, statistical signal processing techniques.
The Key accountabilities of this role are to :
Interface with clients, sell capability and negotiate contracts
Model, develop and analyse conceptual designs
Design, develop and test embedded hardware prototypes
Provide engineering input into project proposals, costing, planning and management Generate milestone and project reports
The successful applicant will possess :
PhD or Masters degree in a relevant field (Electronics, Communications or Computer Engineering)
Extensive practical experience in the implementation of digital signal processing algorithms on FPGAs and hardware design languages (eg : VHDL or Verilog).
Extensive knowledge of simulation tools (eg : MATLAB), programming languages (eg : C or C++)
Knowledge and understanding of detection and synchronisation theory; wireless channel characterisation and modelling; error correction coding;
networking protocols including mesh networks; modern wireless digital modulation schemes
Ability to plan and manage own work effectively and assist others
An ability to work well within a team and well as autonomously to achieve project outcomes
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure, and provide good quality work in a timely manner
Extensive practical experience in embedded software development
