    About the role

    In this role you will identify, coordinate and implement L&D initiatives and programs to ensure the organisation possesses and develops the skills, knowledge and capability to fulfil its' vision and strategic objectives.

    Our client needs someone who can inspire and motivate staff and leaders to learn, grow and perform through their effective partnership and collaboration with various stakeholders across the organisation.

    This role works closely with the National Human Resource Manager and HR team to help drive improvement in HR service delivery with a strong focus on building their peoples' capability through engagement, performance and development.

    Highly strategic and able to deliver Coaching and Development Plans, the role requires an operational focus as well.

    Whilst developing and implementing strategies and programmes to support continuous improvement or core leadership skills and working with external providers to develop or contextualise and procure learning programmes to meet business learning needs, the Operational L&D aspects include :

  • Developing and managing the graduate programme, including the arrangement of mentors for graduates, development initiatives and networks
  • Developing and managing the apprenticeship programmes including encouraging uptake of apprenticeships and cadetships across divisions
  • Engaging with SMEs to gain feedback for the qualification developers
  • Overseeing the learning management system with support of providers, IT and other stakeholders
  • Building the confidence and capability of the organisation's leaders through the development and delivery of effective, innovative and engaging leadership development, coaching and mentoring programmes
  • Supporting leadership in the management of staff with practical L&D solutions developed from a need’s analysis
  • Assisting with establishing appropriate and effective development plans for teams' members across multiple divisions and teams
  • Communicating the L&D offering and value proposition to all staff in an engaging manner
  • About you

    As an experienced people leader with expertise in strategic and operational L&D in a fairly sizeable and complex business, you will have :

  • Good understanding of trade / apprenticeship qualifications and pathways, NZQA framework and ITOs (WDC). Ideally you will have experience working with government bodies and institutions to secure funding for learning solutions
  • Proven experience and ability to develop learning solutions for different audiences, levels, and needs. Ideally you will have working relationships with transitional ITO’s and going forward with Workforce Development Councils and Te Pukenga (work based learning business unit)
  • Ability to build strong & enduring relationships / networks internally and externally and ideally you have the ability to design and develop blended learning solutions e learning, virtual, face to face
  • Strong understanding of qualification and learning design
  • Presentation & facilitation skills
  • LMS knowledge and experience
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Tertiary qualified including an Adult Education qualification, you will be comfortable relating with people at all levels and be able to come up with and 'sell the story' bringing others along on the journey including all internal stakeholders.

    Highly resilient and energetic, you will enjoy working together with the HR and H&S teams and help build on the collaborative culture through L&D programmes.

    It is a complex organisation with a lot of people on numerous sites, a dispersed business geographically and very different audiences requiring different L&D solutions so you will be open, adaptable and straight forward (not fluffy, say it as it is).

    If you believe you are "real" and are perfectly happy putting on a hard hat and steel capped boots one minute and in the next presenting at an Exec meeting then this role should suit you.

    Lastly, some travel will be required, to keep in touch with the business learners including the graduates and their managers.
