Sales is the engine room of Groupon - our success is largely on our Sales teams who have an unparalleled knowledge of the market and the customer, as they focus on building partnerships with new Groupon merchants.

We spend our days learning about what makes small-business tick and how to craft unique marketing campaigns to help them reach their targeted audiences.

Our Local Sales team is responsible for building a marketplace of deals covering the best things for people to see and do in each of our major cities -

everything ranging from restaurants, leisure, beauty, wellness, healthcare and services. Joining our Local Sales Division, you will continue to establish Groupon as an integral marketing partner of local businesses across New Zealand.

Your role is to partner with a variety of new and different businesses devising marketing features that will assist them to increase and calibrate customer traffic, drive revenue and manage capacity.

A bit about the role :

  • Prospecting new business opportunities through cold calling, contacting, and closing deals through our bespoke lead generation pipeline, established networks, relationships and independent research
  • Meet with merchants in person to present Groupon as a marketing solution for their business to help their own businesses thrive, across a wide spectrum of categories (including food, drink, health, beauty & leisure)
  • Take ownership of contract negotiation process, dealing with margins, discounts, and other critical elements
  • Use consultative selling strategies to reach merchants’ desired outcomes and maximise profit
  • Sell the benefits of Groupon as a powerful online marketing tool, and acquire genuine commitment from a variety of top-
  • end local businesses on a weekly basis

  • Work with our Account Management teams to ensure a smooth handover and transition of accounts post close, to align on merchant strategy
  • We’re excited if you have :

  • Prior experience in a new-business hunting sales environment, comfortable cold calling and with a track record of success in a KPI driven sales environment
  • You have strong consultation and negotiation skills, and hunting skills so honed, Bear Grylls would be jealous
  • The right balance of coach-ability and confidence, you are excited about the opportunity to further develop your consultative sales skills
  • You're adaptable and can think on your feet; when faced with new challenges or tough conversations, you face them head-on
  • You're comfortable in an ever-changing,highly competitive environment, with the ambition to improve and the desire to win
  • Curious about people, local businesses, and possess the innate ability to inspire passion in others
  • Advertising, media, online marketing; ecommerce sales and / or hospitality sales highly desirable
  • A lover of food, an outgoing personality and a great sense of humour!
