  • Our client is a dynamic, privately owned New Zealand property developer with significant commercial and residential projects currently in progress throughout the country.

    We have an exciting opportunity for a commercially astute property lawyer to become an integral part of the business.

    In this newly created role you will work alongside the General Counsel providing high quality, solutions-focused legal advice and service to the business.

    The main focus of the role will be on property development transactions from inception through to maturity relating to the acquisition of commercial property and residential land subdivision.

    This includes providing assistance on due diligence matters, drafting and negotiating transaction documents (with the assistance of the General Counsel or external counsel when necessary) and working closely with the business team to facilitate transactions and manage legal risk.

    You will also be involved in managing our client’s large portfolio of property assets.

    In addition, there is the opportunity to take on a varied workload across other broader legal areas including the review, negotiation and provision of advice on contracts, planning requirements, litigation and disputes, general legal compliance, risk management and corporate governance.

    The ideal candidate we seek will have :

  • At least 4 years’ PQE as a property lawyer
  • Prior experience of undertaking residential land subdivision with knowledge of planning and subdivision requirements
  • Experience in reviewing and negotiating contracts and the ability to advise on a variety of legal issues
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Initiative and a pragmatic, practical approach to problem solving
