Citycare Group
Auckland, NZ

Job description

We discover. We deliver. We care.

2 in a Ute is exactly that - two people working together on maintaining vegetation along storm waterways in their local community.

It is an exciting joint venture between Auckland Council and Citycare Water. We are working together to improve the quality of Auckland's waterways and storm water infrastructure.

We manage storm water run-off by using natural soil and plant processes to filter out the pollutants before they reach ground water and waterways.

These are called water sensitive storm water devices which minimises the impact on the environment and enhances the appeal of community spaces for Aucklanders.

About the role :

We are looking for Labourers to form part of the project field teams working under the supervision of Leading Hands maintaining storm waterways.

This position includes the following activities :

  • Maintenance of water sensitive stormwater assets such as : streams, raingardens, treepits, swales, ponds and wetlands
  • Maintaining vegetation along stormwater streams, and ponds
  • Weed and plant control
  • Removal of gross pollutants and clearing blockages of outlets
  • General labouring including cleaning and clearing of water sensitive infrastructure as required
  • Unique career and business opportunities

  • We will be offering training and mentoring throughout the period of the contract.
  • This is a great opportunity for someone looking to get their foot in the door of a growing industry with the potential to lead to permanent opportunities and future career development.
  • Depending on your performance, there may be future opportunities to be promoted to a Leading Hand, in which case you could be invited to become a franchise holder and have a financial stake in the operation.
  • About You

  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Labouring, gardening or maintenance experience preferred
  • Good physical stamina and enjoy working outdoors.
  • Proactive and self-motivated - looking to do things to support and improve contract performance

  • Preferably based in South Auckland as much of the work will be there
  • Full class 1 drivers' license essential, with own transport and / or ability to get to site.
  • Ability to swim essential
