About the Role

You will lead a Software Development Team, within the Digital Engineering Team in Christchurch.

As the Team Lead, you will take ownership of all solutions and activities in your client base with a three-tier approach to daily activities, focus on staff, focus on customer, focus on delivery.

Some of the key focus areas for the Team Lead include :

You’ll be leading from behind and managing our team of highly skilled Developers, while delivering projects and advising on best development practices and analysis.

This is a varied but challenging role to test your line management, coaching, leadership skills as well as to show off your experience in development, analysis, industry knowledge, product ownership and agile practices.

Not only are you comfortable leading a team at all stages in their technical career, you will be working closely with your peers often as a conduit between your team and the Practice Leads as well as winning the confidence of a wide range of clients and potential clients.

You’ll have experience leading technical teams and in agile delivery. As the industry embraces the move to Shift Left , your experience with different engagements from Product Design, Business Cases, Business Strategy, Data Analysis and Greenfields development planning will stand you in good stead and allow you to add value throughout the life cycle.

You may also have experience with presales and shaping projects. You enjoy being hands on where you can to support your consulting activities.

  • Being responsible for project delivery
  • Assisting the sales and presales team with bid managing RFx responses and estimating project management activities

  • This is a dynamic role, responsible for leading, and growing your Software Developers so they can excel in their roles.
  • Build a performance focused culture that ensures activities are conducted within agreed parameters, typically; time, cost and scope, and that identified solutions / outcomes lead to providing real value for our client.
  • Develop a culture of team responsiveness to client needs, continually stretching our capability.
  • Being a change agent, and at the forefront of the software development domain, establish, continually improve, and champion agreed standards, practices, models, and procedures to ensure maximum delivery efficiency, fluidity of people across projects, and ease long-term support and maintenance of the numerous applications your team will work on.
  • Foster a culture of real team connection and commitment to each other, making work a fun place to be, with plenty of learning, teamwork, and opportunities to ply their trade across a wide range of engagements.
  • Collaborating across clients and project teams to confirm requirements, design pragmatic solutions, and set up your people to deliver successful outcomes.
  • structure views that enable all the stakeholders to understand and verify the target solution and related business change activities.
  • Assisting with presales including RFx responses and estimating activities.
  • Manage effective team utilisation through proactive capacity forecasting and planning to optimise the use of capacity and capability across your team to meet client expectations, personal growth, and work / life balance.
  • Challenge the status quo and actively identify and participate in opportunities to improve the overall quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of your team activities.
  • In addition to the above, you will personally deliver software development services for clients.
  • What you will bring :

  • Keen team player and a people person’ with previous, proven leadership experience
  • Solid understanding of the practical application of agile software delivery.
  • Recent hands-on software development and solution architecting experience in full stack Enterprise Software Development including either Java or .Net.
  • If you have expertise in deprecated or out of favour languages that is a bonus!
  • Demonstrated understanding and implementation of Project Management disciplines
  • Strong financial management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation and project revenue.

  • Proven negotiating skills with the aptitude to ensure win / win situations for all parties
