Job Vacancies Position : Bilingual Health Navigator, Refugee Settlement Support Service Ashburton 2 positions

Bilingual : Hazaragi, Dari / Farsi and English

Location : Refugee Settlement Support Service, Ashburton

Hours of Work : 40 hrs full time.

The Refugee Settlement Support Service in Ashburton is looking for two Bilingual Health Navigators to join our team. The Bilingual Health Navigator will support newly arrived former refugees to access health related services.

A key component of this role will be to act as an interpreter for clients when they are accessing health services. You will receive ongoing professional development in your role as interpreter as well as relevant training that will assist you with the skills and experience needed for this position.

For culturally appropriate service delivery we are seeking 1 male and 1 female Bilingual Navigator. We welcome individual applications or joint applications from members of the same family.

The Current Ethnic Refugee Settlement Community in Ashburton : Afghan (Hazara,Tajik)

Bilingual Health Navigator Skills :

We are looking for candidates who have the following key attributes :

  • You will have relevant work or lived experience in the refugee field, as either a former refugee and / or have extensive knowledge of Afghan culture.
  • Have a high level of Hazaragi, Dari / Farsi and English language skills
  • Have a high level of cultural safety and the ability to work with respect and empathy with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Have a working level of computer skills, email, Word.
  • Have excellent time management skills.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Hold a current motor vehicle driver’s license and willing to travel to fulfil job requirements
  • Empathy with humanitarian causes
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to work as part of a team
  • There is an expectation that the person is based in Ashburton - Safer Mid Canterbury will support and contribute towards relocation costs.
