A new opportunity exists to join our small leadership team to drive the transformation of services to address alcohol and other drug related arm in our communities across MidCentral.

This transformation involves introducing a system that delivers integrated care by engaging across primary, specialist and community based service providers to provide better health outcomes for people in the communities we serve.

Reporting to the Planning & Integration Lead, of Uru Rauhi the Mental Health & Addictions Cluster, we are seeking an experienced leader with a can-

do attitude for this exciting position.

  • Providing clinical oversight and leadership to programmes and initiatives across the Mental Health & Addictions Cluster under the direction of the Operations and Clinical Executive with a particular focus on treatments across the spectrum for addictions and co-existing problems
  • Drive system change and integration across Mental Health & Addictions, leading the service towards the structure it will require to deliver in response to the National Inquiry outcome
  • Lead and contribute to initiatives across the cluster that focus on growing and developing front-line clinical leadership, devolving decision-
  • making, actively supporting leadership capability improvements and enabling clinicians and teams within the cluster to make good decisions as close to the patient / client as possible

  • Engage with the Cluster Alliancing Group, building strong and effective partnerships and relationships with providers and other agencies relevant to the cluster’s population groups / pathways
  • To be considered appropriate for this role, you will be able to demonstrate :

  • Relevant clinical or health management tertiary qualification and at least five years’ experience with demonstrated capability in senior leadership roles with strategic planning responsibilities
  • Evidence of leading programmes of change, innovation and / or integration and delivering against set objectives
  • Ability to access and analyse varied and complex data and information from multiple and diverse sources, making sound, evidence-based judgements
  • Awareness of equity issues across the sector including, but not limited to Maori Health
  • A thorough understanding of the function of the cluster and their challenges
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills

    General Information

    MidCentral District Health Board employs more than 2500 staff at Manawatu, Palmerston North, Tararua and Horowhenua and Otaki districts.

    Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 168,000.

    In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.

    Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures.

    Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
