  • We have an opportunity for an exceptional senior nurse looking to take the next step in their nursing career to lead our team as Charge Nurse Manager in Cardiology and Renal (7B CCU / Ward 7C / Cath Lab) on a full-time, permanent basis.

    About the Role

    The senior nursing leadership team on the 7th floor is undergoing exciting change. Our vision is to be a centre of clinical care and customer service excellence.

    We are excited about the future and doing things differently on to support the patient journey and shift to new model of care more closely aligned with the vision for the New Dunedin Hospital.

    Reporting to the Nurse Manager - Speciality Medicine, and supported by the Director of Nursing, a key focus of your role will be ensuring that contemporary Models of Care are implemented and evaluated in response to the ever-changing needs of the community, health system and focus of the Southern DHB’s right care, right time, in the right place’.

    You will have a team of ACNM’s 7 days a week (1.4 FTE) on 7B and 7C, plus a dedicated ACNM 0.4 FTE for Cath Lab to support you.

    Key accountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to :

  • Clinical Leadership of the department : fostering a culture that strives for excellence in clinical service provision within allocated resources.
  • Quality and Risk Management of the department.
  • Service Planning and Delivery : leading and managing the department to provide efficient and effective services, and participating in and leading department service planning
  • Staff Management and Recruitment : Developing a cohesive and productive team, and ensuring best practice HR standards are met
  • About You

    You must bring a clear focussed vision; strive for contemporary practice, be calm under pressure, be an excellent communicator and be firm, but fair,’ with the ability to inspire staff and be their advocate when needed.

    Your clinical credibility in nursing will be complemented by your advanced communication skills; you’ll be a natural at building successful working relationships, and have proven experience in conflict resolution and mediation.

    Naturally a glass half full person, you will be an adept problem solver, with the flexibility to make sound clinical and leadership decisions on your feet.

    The successful candidate will have a current NZ APC, relevant post-graduate nursing experience ideally in Critical Care and be looking to develop advanced nursing and leadership skills.
