    About the team

    The Youth Forensic Team is a specialised service providing support for youth who are engaged in offending behaviours within the juvenile justice system and who are also experiencing emotional and / or mental health disorders.

    About you

    We have available, a permanent, full-time role based in either Dunedin or Invercargill, for a Mental Health Professional or Registered Nurse working within our Youth Forensic service.

    You will provide an effective, efficient service for youth who are engaged in offending behaviours within the juvenile justice system and who are also experiencing emotional and / or mental health disorders.

    To be successful in this role you will the following :

  • Advocate for forensic youth, focusing on their optimum care and resilience
  • Undertake a comprehensive assessment and provide treatment advice alongside consultation with the multidisciplinary youth forensic team
  • Provide referral of the youth for any potentially unmet need identified
  • Support the Youth court processes to ensure effective liaison and developed professional relationships
  • There is a degree of working autonomously with this role, but you must also to be able to interact and work alongside the wider Youth Forensic Speciality team based across the district in both Invercargill and Dunedin.

    Ideally you'll be experienced within a mental health setting and having worked with youth, you'll be New Zealand Registered and hold a current annual practising certificate, if you are a Registered Nurse you'll have a scope of practise that allows you to work in Mental Health.

    A current full drivers' licence is also a requirement.
