The organisation

Te Kaunihera a Rohe o Te Tihi o Maru aims to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of communities, to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of its communities in the present and for the future.

With around 400 staff, there are a diverse range of roles from community facing roles to support and technical specialists.

The roles

This time of the year is always an exciting time. We have a lot of new job opportunities crop up. If you are a consents planner, enforcement, or policy planner and on the lookout for a career change, look no further.

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic planners to join our district planning team. Our district consents team help to make development happen across our beautiful district by analysing, processing, and approving recourse consents.

On the other hand, our policy team help to transform our current district plan into a modern document.

Intermediate and Senior Policy Planner - if you are ready to take on a strategic view of resource management, this role is for you! Your challenge will be drafting, updating, and delivering the district plan for our customers and stakeholders.

This role guarantees diversity and growth; collaboration with stakeholders and work on various urban and rural development, industrial expansions, projects involving heritage, significant natural areas and outstanding landscapes while navigating the challenges of RM Reform and new National Direction.

Resource Consents Planners (All Levels) - Wherever you are in your planning career, whether you are just starting out or looking for the next step, we have a place for you.

Your challenge will be delivering a seamless and timely resource consent process to our customers. You will get to handle a broad range cases ranging from urban and rural development, industrial expansion, and projects involving heritage, significant natural areas and outstanding landscapes.

You won't get bored, and there is always something new to learn about.

More experienced planners will also be expected to lend their expertise at Council hearings, developing other staff members, and possibly 2IC duties.

The person (you!)

We are looking for pragmatic thinkers who show initiative. You should also have technical knowledge of RMA and Local Government, plus an appropriate amount of experience in planning for your level of seniority.

A tertiary qualification in related fields is essential.
