  • Better work stories start here!
  • Be part of an exciting and respected team
  • Fantastic benefits and competitive salary
  • Growth in the number of calls to Police means we're looking for our next batch of stars - people who want to help others by connecting them to the right Police services and providing direct and personal assistance.

    The role

This isn't your average call centre role, so we need above average people! You'll be the voice of the Police, dealing with people who need your help.

You'll be the first point of contact for people who need Police assistance in a non-emergency. You will complete reports of historic crime over the phone where Police attendance isn't required immediately.

However, every call is different and you need to be able to think on your feet and deal with anything that comes your way.

There may even be times you'll need to deal with critical events or emergency situations. Police is a 24 / 7 operation, so the role requires you to work a variety of shifts.

Are you the right person to fill this role?

We're looking for the right people to deliver this important nationwide service. In this role you can directly help and positively influence the lives of many people in our communities.

So we're looking for people with the following qualities :

  • Ability to handle stressful and emotionally difficult situations with a level head and a sensitive approach
  • Empathy for others
  • Ability to communicate and build rapport with people from all walks of life
  • Ability to listen to what people need, analyse information and act decisively
  • What we'll provide

We'll provide the training, a supportive culture, a competitive salary and the satisfaction of knowing you're helping New Zealanders every day.

    The must haves :

  • Be either a New Zealand or Australian citizen or a New Zealand resident.
  • Confidence in the ability for you and your immediate family to pass comprehensive security and background checks.
  • Reliable transport to get to and from work for a 24 / 7 roster (Full license is not a must, but if you have a Restricted you need alternative plans for when you are working outside the hours of your license).
  • Typing speed of 40 words per minute (or more) with at least 96% accuracy.
  • Clean credit record, or a payment plan in place for a minor default.
  • Willingness to undertake a full medical assessment (at your own expense) to assess your suitability for the role.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills
  • We welcome applications from anyone who has what it takes, regardless of height, gender, ethnicity, culture, sexuality, or faith.

To better reflect New Zealand's growing diversity we want you to bring your background, culture, and values to the job.

If you answered yes to every question and you share the New Zealand Police's values PRIMED ( P rofessionalism, R espect, I ntegrity, have commitment to M aori and the treaty, E mpathy and D iversity) and you are keen to apply, then please click on the following link to submit your covering letter and CV to Randstad : https : / / www. / jobs / qt-police / auckland /
