About the role

The Infrastructure and Digital Assets (IDA) team provides a range of asset-based services to support the delivery of Corrections' core business and ensure we can maintain consistent service delivery regardless of external events and crises.

The group comprises four key areas : Asset Management, Procurement, Public Private Partnerships and Digital Services.

You'll be working with both the Strategic Asset Management' team, which is responsible for developing the future requirements of the Estate portfolio, and Resource Management and Land Management' team which is responsible for all the Department's consenting needs across the national estate.

As Summer Intern Masterplanning, we are looking for an intern with a planning degree programme or have strong interests in planning processes and urban planning from an aligned degree.

It is anticipated that your time will be split 80 : 20 between the Masterplanning Programme and RMLM team respectively.

The role accountabilities include :

  • Supporting the delivery and initiation of an existing National Masterplanning Programme.
  • Ensuring heard messages translate to tangible outcomes in our planning.
  • Leading and engaging with stakeholders to support project outcomes.
  • Working with consultant teams to deliver our outcomes.
  • Supporting consenting and compliance initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Across the internship period a day may include :

  • Site visits, workshops, meetings and co-ordination with stakeholders and suppliers to include : report writing, QA and review of documentation.
  • Reviewing consent information and supporting the preparation of applications and district plan submissions.

    What you will bring to Corrections :

  • An understanding and the application of the RMA and LGA.
  • System-thinking and the consideration of economic, environmental, social and cultural factors in planning.
  • Creative approach to complex problems, able to generate and articulate your vision.
  • Good written and spoken English, engaging presenter and enjoys collaborating.
  • Willingness & curiosity to understand the planning and key needs of our Estate.
  • Added value would be having an understanding of Te Ao Māori worldview, Tikanga Māori and Mātauranga Māori.
  • To be considered for this Summer Internship, you must be in your second year of study in relevant course working towards a Bachelors in either Planning or Architecture.

    Applications will be accepted from Final Year+ students, however preference will be given to those still in study.

    Pay Rate : $23.00 per hour.
