    About the Department / Operation / Programme

    Hibiscus Coast Corps are looking to enhance their existing Community Ministries as demand for support in the area increases.

    We are looking for that special someone who will be able to take our Community Ministries to the next level. This will include working closely with those who come through our doors seeking support and building relationships with other agencies and organisations in the area.

    About the role / job description

    This role is a public face of the Hibiscus Coast Corps Community Ministries. The position involves working closely with people who will come into the Salvation Army Centre in Red Beach.

    The successful applicant will be willing to work in a team environment to support the work of the Salvation Army. On a daily basis the role involves :

    Key tasks

  • Championing the Community Ministries Vision and Mission at a local level
  • Cultivate a Community Ministries culture where all who access our services are treated with dignity and respect
  • Completing effective assessments of clients’ needs with care and compassion
  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships with other social agencies in the area
  • Lead a team of volunteers ensuring they are well trained and equipped in their roles
  • Person Specification

    We are looking for someone who :

  • Has an ability to build rapport and empathise with people from diverse backgrounds and complex needs
  • Has an appreciation towards the needs of people; and has a strong desire to improve the social and economic wellbeing of these people
  • Is warm, caring and compassionate
  • Has good people skills who can work well with internal and external stakeholders
  • Has previous social or welfare work experience, but not necessary
  • Can work unsupervised, uses their initiative and is adaptable
  • Is open to learning and receiving any necessary training
  • Good computer and communication skills
  • Essential : For the safety and wellbeing of our current staff, The Salvation Army requires all new employees to be fully vaccinated.
