If you share this team’s passion for gerontology, this could be a fantastic opportunity for you!The Community Geriatric Service provides specialist services supporting 42 residential care facilities and to older people living in their own homes.
You will also have the opportunity to support the ED geriatric initiative working with older patients presenting to ED, to return to the community safely to avoid delays in care and hospital admissions.
You will use your passion and experience to promote a person centred and direct approach to care that maximises the health, well-being, dignity and autonomy of the older person.
If you are a senior nurse experienced in gerontology, energetic, and enjoy busy and rewarding days you now have the opportunity to join the Community Geriatric Service.
To be successful in this role you will have a sound understanding of gerontological nursing and have excellent assessment skills and able to take an innovative approach to resolving challenging situations and work well in a team environment.
You will have proven clinical and education skills, a clear commitment to client-centred care, coaching and mentoring ability, and strong interpersonal skills.
Your communication style will be clear with excellent written and spoken English and will be open and friendly with the ability to respond quickly and appropriately to any situation.
While working in this role you will have the opportunity to further develop and extend your gerontology care skills and knowledge in a supportive, consultative, multidisciplinary team.
Essential : Currently working as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 5 years clinical experienceExperience in gerontological nursing or working in a community settingExpert nurse on PDRP and / or undertaking post graduate educationClean drivers licence.
Desired : A Masters in Nursing or working towards a Masters.The role is expected to commence on 1st November.
