About this role

The Adviser, Employment Relations will be accountable, as a key member of the Employment Relations team, for preparation, undertaking and implementation of planning to ensure the Ministry's employment relations approach will deliver for learners, support staff, teachers and education leaders.

This will involve making a contribution to related work programmes and working closely with Ministry colleagues and stakeholders to ensure bargaining outcomes strongly support government policy objectives for education.

You will also be responsible for supporting the management of issues which require the provision of specialist employment relations advice.

About you

  • You will have experience working in an employment relations and / or industrial relations in a large and complex organization. You will also have;
  • An interest in developing and implementing bargaining strategies and plans that encompass a broad spectrum of communications activities.
  • The ability to work across a number of workstreams, and operate in an ever-changing environment.
  • Relationship management skills - the ability to influence and advise senior leaders, identify key communications issues, and deliver relevant services.
  • the ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga.
