About the role

The General Manager, Metering Operations will be responsible for leading the New Zealand and Australia operations function, including field operations for the New Zealand mass market, C&I and Gas and Vircom business.

  • The focus of this role will be to provide leadership in health and safety, to maintain and improve Metering current strong market position in New Zealand and support the strategic growth objectives for Australia, and to ensure the longevity of the Metering business beyond the expiry of foundational advanced metering contracts.??
  • Leadership

    Communicate a compelling and inspired vision and sense of core purpose which motivates and inspires the Metering Operations group.

    Overall responsibility for culture and staff wellbeing across New Zealand and Australia operations centres, and work collaboratively with the wider Metering and OnGas Leadership team and the wider Vector group.

    Promote continuous learning and the development of others to achieve maximum potential in staff.

    Operational Excellence

    In conjunction with the wider leadership team leverage the trans-Tasman scale of Metering to ensure Metering is the most efficient provider in Australasia through :

  • Aligning the underlying platforms and management structures across both NZ and Australia;
  • Leveraging IT and development capex across both markets;
  • Driving process efficiency via lean six sigma disciplines; and
  • Ensuring Metering is relentlessly focussed on continuous improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Deliver / exceed annual budgets.? Manage capital spend within budget.

    Ensure all operational compliance requirements in New Zealand and Australia are achieved.

    Lead and embed a culture of health, safety and quality across the Operations group :

  • Ensure the team maintain, monitor & evolve HSE standards to minimise the risk for injury and mitigate all major HSE risks associated with Metering? field operations;
  • Ensure all field operations are performed in strict accordance with all technical quality and HSE requirements; and
  • Proactively lead the improvement HSE standards and supporting practices across both Metering? and FSP?s processes.
  • Accountability for compliance activities across New Zealand and Australia, including :

  • Ensuring all activities meet the relevant Regulatory, Jurisdictional and Network requirements, obligations and codes
  • Manage and build robust relationships with key Regulatory bodies
  • Ensure that Vectors compliance legal and regulatory obligations are met.

    Disciplined Growth

    Build the Metering operational and deployment capacity continuously to allow the business to :

  • Meet Retailers SLAs
  • Allow the Commercial team to pursue additional business
  • To grow the business to establish Vector as the leading metering business in the Australian market and to deliver returns to our stakeholders.
