    Our Government Services team is at the core of the relationship with Ministers and Parliament, and facilitates an ambitious, multi-faceted programme of work that supports delivery of significant conservation outcomes.

    The team leads and develops integrated systems and policies that span the entire Department. In this role you will provide advice and guidance on PQ's, ministerials and OIA's, to ensure senior management can deliver quality service for the Director General and the Minister.

    Due to the nature of our work, you'll prefer being officed based and working closely with colleagues. The work is fast paced, and turnarounds are in real-time, so accessing people and information quickly and effectively will be essential to your success in this role.

    This permanent role is based in Wellington. We would consider a secondment for the right candidate.

    He kōrero mōu : What we are looking for

    Ideally, you'll have a couple of years' experience working in a similar environment, and be experienced in responding to ministerial requests, PQ's, OIA's and have a good understanding of the business of parliament.

    You'll need to be solution-focused and proactive with a can do attitude.

    You'll have editorial skills and enjoy working in a dynamic environment that will see you draw on your skills and those of others across the department, to inform robust communication between DOC and Parliament.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. humanities, social sciences, legal)
  • 1-2 recent years' experience in a similar role
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Be confident with a variety of IT tools including, Adobe Pro and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
  • Good understanding of the principles of effective written communication and their application in a variety of formats
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex issues clearly, tailoring communications to meet audience needs
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence without having direct authority
