Align is a multi-disciplinary consultancy with offices in Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Taranaki, Wellington, Wairarapa and Canterbury Regions.

We provide accredited Crown property services, planning, landscape architecture, urban design and geographical information systems.

These services are provided to central and local government, network utility operators, infrastructure providers, developers, and commercial and private clients.


We have an exciting and varied forward work programme of significant road, rail, water and other projects. We now require an experienced Property Acquisition Consultant to join our team in the Wellington (Petone) office.

The role will suit a property a property professional with 8+ years’ experience in property rights acquisition or a closely related field requiring negotiations and engagement with a range of stakeholders.

The position would report to the Area Manager - Property. Key responsibilities include :

  • Negotiations for the acquisition of land under the Public Works Act 1981
  • Providing strategic property advice under the Public Works Act, Local Government Act and other infrastructure related legislation
  • Preparation of property strategies and other related documentation
  • Managing land acquisition and related projects
  • Stakeholder engagement and consultation
  • Preparing client and Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) approval reports
  • Mentoring, training and guiding other staff

    An enthusiastic and passionate person ideally with :

  • A tertiary property qualification
  • 8+ years experience in a relevant property role
  • Public Works Act and / or Local Government Act experience
  • Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) accreditation, or working towards this
  • Excellent organisational, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Exceptional relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • A propensity for teamwork and willingness to go the extra mile
  • Attention to detail in your work and a high level of accuracy
  • Inclusive and adaptive working style and the ability to influence and develop trust and credibility with key stakeholders.

    Applicants must have existing rights to work in New Zealand along with a full, clean driving license.
