Right now we are after a Construction Trades Tutor to become a part of our institutions supporting our vision and values based at Poriruacampus.
Aboutthe role Te kaupapa
The School of Construction is lookingfor a new Construction Trades Tutor to join our construction team.
Key responsibilities include facilitatingteaching, learning and assessment for entry level construction students, withcourses including a strong hands-on practical learning component.
e.g. supervising apprentices or other workers on the job.
Successful applicants without teaching qualificationswill be supported to achieve a Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching orsimilar tertiary teaching qualification through on-job training anddevelopment.
To besuccessful, you must have broad industry experience, supported by a relevantconstruction related qualification, preferably in the carpentry or joinerydisciplines.
Skills in allied trades areaswould also be an advantage. You will need to hold a full and current driving licence and have a reasonable level of IT capability.
Essential personal attributes forapplicants are open-mindedness and the ability and willingness to learn. Youwill need to have good communication skills, a positive attitude towards workingwith younger people and a reasonable level of physical fitness.
The role may involve teaching duties ateither of our Porirua or Petone sites depending on student enrolment numbers. Thesuccessful applicant will be required to undergo a police vetting check inorder to work with young people.
