Dunedin Hospital

  • Permanent, 0.8 FTE (32 Hours per week)
  • Supportive team, a fast-paced environment, and lots of interesting cases!
  • The Southern DHB has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sonographer to join our Radiology department right here at Dunedin Hospital.

    About the Role

Our Ultrasound Department is well appointed with the latest technology and our staff enjoy the variety of cases they see daily.

We encourage a team-focused approach to the service we deliver and excellent time management and decision making skills are essential as well as the ability to work under pressure.

Supported in your role by a tight knit team, you’ll foster a culture within a unit that continues to strive for excellence in clinical services and focuses on patient centred care.

You’ll work across all areas of ultrasound general, vascular, paediatric, obstetric, and every other aspect you can think of.

You’ll also work with a radiologist to help out on interventional procedures.

    About You

The position itself calls for an experienced, approachable and professional individual, with a team-based approach and an affinity with both patients and staff alike.

You will contribute to positive change within the department, and operate with an all-inclusive approach. Your communication skills will be refined and you will be a team player through and through.

It goes without saying that you will embody the Southern DHB values of Open, Kind, Positive and a Sense of Community in all that you do.

You will need to be a qualified Sonographer registered with the NZ Medical Radiation Technologist Board (NZMRTB) and hold a current Practicing Certificate.

    Location, Location, Location!

Dunedin Hospital is a major trauma centre. That means lots of acute cases you can help get answers for, quickly. It’s a teaching hospital, so you’ll have the opportunity to mentor new graduates.

Being in the centre of town, you can head to the cafés and shops at lunchtime or after work. And eventually you’ll be working in the brand new tertiary hospital that’s under construction.

Dunedin’s a great place if you like all the activities and entertainment options that go with a big city. But it’s got a special character and charm of its own, and a small-town vibe that makes life more easy-going.
