About the role
As Director you will consider the overall functioning of New Zealand's recreational safety and search and rescue systems, and recommend suggestions for improvement and an implementation plan to the Minister of Transport and other relevant Ministers.
The role will involve engaging, communicating, and working closely with the wide range of system participants, which includes a mix of government agencies, charitable non-governmental agencies, commercial interests and other relevant stakeholders.
To support your review and enable sector consultation, you will set-up a review advisory group.
In this autonomous role you will be responsible for the delivery of recommendations to Ministers. The review will also produce an effective implementation plan which will propose clear outcomes and measures for the recreational safety and search and rescue system to ensure the system can meet community and national needs and responsibilities now and for the future.
We expect the review to include a mix of in house and contracted resource. Resources have been set aside to allow you the opportunity to engage fixed term / seconded employees / contracted work according to your design.
