The TEC internally, fellow government agencies, employers and industry are geared up for change across the careers and tertiary education systems, which is why we have a Products Services & Design Team responsible for designing system enhancing products and services.

This team has the mandate to lead the design and development of products and services that will support New Zealanders making education and careers decisions throughout their lives.

To help us achieve this, we are looking for an Experience Team Leader to lead our talented team of service designers and business improvement analysts in continuously improving the experience we deliver to Aotearoa.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading your team of business improvement analysts and service designers in understanding where the TEC products and services meet the needs of all New Zealanders.
  • Leading your team in identifying and designing opportunities to better meet diverse needs, and deliver to the TEC strategy.
  • Championing human-centred, inclusive and equity-first design and research practices across the TEC.
  • Leading the service design capability at the TEC and upskilling the organisation in service design ways of working.

  • A passion for human-centred design, your team, your customers and making a positive difference in the lives of New Zealanders.
  • Your extensive knowledge and expertise in service design including targeted research, insights, and systems mapping.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience managing a team of service designers, business analysts, business improvement analysts, user experience researchers, or similar.
  • Experience in establishing processes and methods to enable service design and / or business improvement to work effectively with other disciplines (such as insights, policy, product ownership, and strategy).
