Job Description

Primary Responsibility

The Wool Store Handler's primary role is to press loose wool into bales and to maintain the wool store in a tidy acceptable condition.

The position also requires active involvement in maintaining the management, quality, health and safety systems to ensure compliance and development in these functions

Specific Responsibility

  • To perform all wool store work in accordance with procedures related to the management of the wool store
  • Manage the wool store so wool keeper samples are stored in an organized library and to ensure these are cycled for removal when they have reached their shelf life
  • Manage the wool store to provide sufficient storage space for wool keeper samples and where appropriate, bale wool keeper samples and tidily store for the designated period
  • Ensure surplus waste wool and / or keeper samples are baled correctly as per their wool characteristics
  • Stack wool bales correctly so they are in a safe, stable and orderly configuration
  • Maintain the sale of wool inventory and preserve records of what is in stock, sold and dispatched
  • Ensure the wool press is maintained so it remains in optimal functioning condition
  • To respect all equipment and the working environment
  • To ensure work is of the highest possible productivity and efficiency
  • To report potential processing, safety, quality issues immediately
  • Ensure consumables are used sparingly and not wasted
  • To train, where applicable, other work colleagues where it has been assessed by Management that your competence and knowledge is of the required standard
  • Maintain and encourage the positive working culture so it is conducive to productivity, integrity, empathy, honesty, co-operation, safety and maintaining good working relationships
  • To participate in any work groups or problem-solving teams you have been nominated for
  • Maintain good housekeeping by preserving a clean and tidy work environment
  • Monitor work quality and immediately raise any performance issues with the Quality Manager or Appointee
  • To work with the NZ Business Manager so to maximize business returns whilst minimizing exposure and risk for the company
  • To ensure all activities are carried out with recognition of Health and Safety requirements and personal safety
  • Undertake any other work requests as required by management

  • Additional Information

    Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid New Zealand work visa.
