    We need a talented and dedicated developer to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a skilled developer with a passion for developing and supporting web applications.

    This position works across a range of innovative land environmental and biodiversity data-oriented services and applications.

    It offers the chance to take part in projects that range from small team efforts to collaborations involving the wider team as well as working for a range of stakeholders, both internal and external to provide outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand.

    The position will provide opportunities for growth and to apply your emerging technical skills to a range of diverse challenges.

    You will

  • have well developed full stack development skills and experience, including working across web, API services, databases, and visualisations in predominantly Linux and OSS platforms
  • have a strong understanding of database principles, with applied experience
  • have a sound awareness of software engineering principles and their application
  • hold a graduate degree in computer science / technology or similar, with industry experience
  • have excellent written and spoken English, and strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • be able to collaborate well in a team environment, but will also be self-reliant when needed
  • have an interest, qualification or experience in science fields such as biology / biodiversity, bioinformatics, environmental data, climate change, landscapes, ecosystems, or data science
  • possibly have some cross-platform development (e.g., .Net, Python frameworks) experience, but have experience with a range of languages and frameworks (e.
  • g., Python, R, C#, React, Angular etc)

  • Practical experience building spatial web solutions with mapping libraries such as OpenLayers, Leaflet, Mapbox and geospatial services APIs etc.
