Then keep reading we have the perfect opportunity for you. We are seeking motivated individuals for this 'combined' role that encompasses all the responsibilities of an Outdoor Adventure Guide and Activities / Retail Guest Services for the entire employment period.
The role is split between all Tourism areas subject to the demands of the business. A typical day will involve you interacting with our guests and providing informative and entertaining commentary and instruction about our outdoor adventure activities.
We are specifically looking for guides who speak fluent English and either Chinese or Japanese and understand Japanese and Chinese culture to help us cater to our international guests.
A clean current NZ drivers licence is required, and a Class 2 and Passenger endorsement (or the ability to obtain these) would also be viewed favourably.
Knowledge and a passion for Astronomy are preferred as well as being familiar with telescopes. This passion coupled with excellent communication skills and an ability to speak in front of groups with confidence and enthusiasm is a definite advantage.
You should be able to work at a fast pace and be able to handle pressure with professionalism and poise. You'll be flexible with the ability to multi-
task and an eye for detail. Previous sales, cash handling and guiding experience are essential. Our retail centre offers a wide range of souvenir products as well clothing, footwear, groceries and New Zealand Post services.
The Activities desk assists our guests, as well as day trippers to book daily activities including Glacier Explorers, Tasman Valley Tours, Guided Walks and Stargazing.

The Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre is also home to the Sir Edmund Hillary Museum and a 3D Theatre and Planetarium which enables guests to immerse themselves in the history of the local area as well as watch a variety of movies exploring the natural world and documenting local achievements.
