Fletcher Living is New Zealand’s leading specialist home building group. We are part of Fletcher Building, a diversified global building industry company.

Due to an increasing workload the Canterbury Branch are looking at adding to their team, we are on the hunt for an experienced and versatile Construction Supervisor to join us.

We would like to talk with candidates who offer prior experience working in subdivisions supervising the delivery of residential new builds on a medium to large scale.

We are also interested in candidates with experience in the oversight of the construction of light commercial buildings or apartments.

The role will oversee apartment projects located within Christchurch CBD / housing projects situated within the city boundaries.

In this role you will have limited contact with home purchasers as our Construction Supervisors deliver a finished product, which is then handed to the Sales team to sell.

Your job is to focus on the construction programme, oversee our contractors and suppliers and provide leadership in relation to quality workmanship and health & safety (H&S).

About You Along with a good track record in the above requirements, we are also looking for someone with excellent communication skills.

You will be someone who is known for being firm but fair and you will be respected by all parties who are involved in delivering a successful project, including local council and their inspectors.

Ultimately your focus will be on ensuring the construction programme is tracking positively in terms of being on time and within budget, that excellent H&S practices are being adhered to and that the team are focussed on good quality finishes so that we can hand over a high spec product to our Sales team.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5 years’ construction experience, preferably residential, with demonstrated leadership ability
  • Solid understanding of the materials, methods and tools involved in residential construction
  • Experience in estimating material and worker requirements to deliver on projects
  • Sound knowledge of industry best practice, QA and H&S procedures and requirements
  • Self-motivation, a positive attitude and the ability to think for yourself
