YMCA Onehunga is looking for a Swim School Teacher / Administrator to join our centre based in Onehunga. This is a Part Time role approx.

20 hours per week depending on availability. The days of work will include Mon Sun as mentioned on weekly roster. Swim teaching hours Monday to Friday 9am to 12pm or 3 : 30pm to 6pm and Swim School Administration Saturday and Sunday 7 : 30am to 1pm.

What will you be doing? Swim School Teacher role

  • Working with children 0 18 years
  • Teach pre-choreographed classes
  • Deliver swimming classes and programmes in accordance with the lesson plans
  • Instruct children on the proper swimming techniques
  • Assessing children during the classes to ensure they are using the right technique
  • Provide both pupils and parents feedback on how their swimming is progressing
  • What will you be doing? Swim School Administrator role

  • Take, process and enter all swim school enrolments
  • Manage class bookings to maintain instructor / participant ratios
  • Manage class wait lists in conjunction with the Swim School Manager
  • Prepare class lists for the start of each term
  • Promote all programmes and services offered within the centre
  • Keep the swim school noticeboards up to date at all times
  • Creating swim school certificates
  • Set up resources for classes
  • Attend to all customers enquires and complaints
  • What experience / skills do you need?

  • Minimum six (6) months experience in Customer Care / Service
  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety License or equivalent industry recognised qualification or have previous industry experience would be advantageous
  • Comprehensive First Aid Qualification
  • Excellent Data entry skills - accuracy and speed
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Be a confident swimmer
  • Swim coaching / teaching experience preferable
  • Have the ability to teach children to swim
  • Ability provide constructive feedback
  • Able to work with children
  • Patience and reliable
  • Excellent communication skills
