About the Role

We are now seeking applications from enthusiastic and proactive people wishing to commence their career as Toolmaker. The role reports to the Toolroom Manager and would suit someone who is passionate about mechanical engineering.

This is a full-time role. You will gain on the job experience working onsite as well as attending block courses. You will be fully supported by our Toolmaking Team in studying towards a NZ Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Level 4 Toolmaking.

What are the key responsibilities?

  • Completing the required unit standards on the job and off the job units to attain Level 4 Mechanical qualification
  • Work in a team environment to manufacture new & maintain existing tooling.
  • Produce tooling components to a high standard that are fit for purpose.
  • Apply CAD / CNC skills with the Design & Applications Manager to manufacture parts.
  • What are we looking for?

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Suitable NCEA passes, and / or a pre-trade NZQA qualification
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills for an ability to read and understand machine manuals and drawings.
  • Good understanding of English, both written & verbal
  • A willingness to keep learning and developing new skills.
  • Committed to 4 years study while you work
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Health & Safety awareness.
  • Serious about achieving a trade qualification and starting a career willing to sit the required unit standards to complete NZ Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Level 4
  • As part of our commitment to health and safety, successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment medical and drug test.
