  • Due to the retirement of a long serving staff member, we are looking to recruit a dental therapist / oral health therapist to work in our service within the Tararua region.

    This is a full time position however therapists interested in part time hours are also encouraged to apply.

    We’re a team, so the successful applicant will be working as part of the Child and Adolescent Oral Health Service MidCentral Health.

    As part of our team, you will be supported by a Clinical Leadership team as well as an experienced team of Dental Assistants.

    There is an established Professional Development Programme to further support you in your practice. This position will be primarily based in Tararua region but may require travel to other sites.

    The successful applicant will require a current Annual Practising Certificate with a scope of practise of Dental Therapist or Oral Health Therapist.

    A full driver’s licence is also required. MidCentral District Health Board is committed to ensuring that children and young people are safe from abuse and harm.

    As part of our commitment to children and young people, and in line with the Vulnerable Children Act 2014, appointment to positions that involve regular or overnight contact with children will include worker safety checks.

    These checks are in addition to the requirement to have a satisfactory police clearance. Further information will be provided to shortlisted candidates.

    General Information

    MidCentral District Health Board employs more than 2500 staff at Manawatu, Palmerston North, Tararua and Horowhenua and Otaki districts.

    Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 168,000.

    In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.

    Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures.

    Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
