The Department of Microbiology and Immunology are a team of internationally recognised researchers dedicated to carrying out teaching and research exploring exciting and topical areas in the field.

The role / Te mahi

As an Assistant Research Fellow, you will carry out research as part of an externally funded Health Research Council project.

Duties will be performed under the supervision of Dr Matthew McNeil and other named investigators.

Duties include :

  • Performing molecular biology experiments under the direction of supervisors.
  • Contributing to experimental design, protocol development, and data analysis.
  • Contributing to new ideas, procedures and technologies.

    Candidates will :

  • Have a degree or postgraduate degree in molecular biology, microbiology or equivalent.
  • Be a team player with creative thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Be able to work independently with excellent organisational skills.

    This is a full-time fixed term (21 month) position starting in March 2022.

    Part-time hours may be considered for the appropriate applicant.
