Fleet Operations Transformation Manager

The newly created Fleet Operations Transformation Manager is an exciting role focused on the long term of Kiwirails ship operations and will be closely involved in the change and transition Interislander 'journey'.

Primarily this role will ensure that the fleet team are 'change ready' across all operational workstreams for the arrival of new ships and terminals.

This will require leading the development of a change transition plan for the maritime team in the areas of safety, operational and technical performance, commercial excellence and outstanding customer service on our ships.

The change and transition plan for the ships needs to be highly integrated with all other components of iReX, Interislander and the wider KiwiRail organisation.

Collaboration will be critical to the successful implementation as will the championing of a team culture and operating model.

This role sits in the Interislander Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the iReX Management team, reporting to the Executive General Manager and will involve close working relationships with Unions, Maritime NZ, Harbour Masters, Ports, etc.

To be considered for this role you will have extensive experience in leadership and management within large, complex operational or engineering services supported with senior maritime experience.

Naturally in your breadth of experience will be your expertise in commissioning new vessels or other complex plant and / or equipment.

You will have proven ability in implementing significant change processes across multiple workstreams in similar environments including front-line operational teams and you will have worked collaboratively with Unions and other government agencies to provide mutually beneficial outcomes.

You will be a thought leader who takes a "bottom up" approach to engaging a workforce in change and transition processes and bring best practice expertise in transitional planning and methodologies.

Due to the nature of our operation it will be important that the successful individual will have flexibility around working hours based on our ships schedule and requirement to spend time onboard our ships.
