Based in the Waitakere Ranges Regional ParkFocus on track workFixed term until December 2023He angitūtanga : The opportunityWe are looking for a Park Ranger with a passion for track construction and maintenance, recreation and conservation to join our Western Regional Parks Team.
This position plays an integral role in protecting and enhancing the environment and natural landscapes of Auckland's Western Regional Parks.
These parks have a wide range of ecosystems, threatened species and major focus on the track improvement programme.This role works with internal and external stakeholders to fulfil the goals in the Auckland Plan, Regional Park Management Plan and the Regional Pest Management strategy.
As part of the role, you will focus on track construction and maintenance to support kauri dieback programmes to help protect natural and cultural heritage.
You may be required to work throughout the Regional parks network from time to time.He kōrero mōu : About youYou will have previous experience in track and structure construction ideally with experience in the conservation sector alongside the ability to undertake planning and delivery aspects of a project.
You understand the wider park outcomes including recreation, education and cultural heritage.You will need to be a strong communicator and have a passion for working to improve and maintain our track network.
Having a strong background in track construction conservation and, recreation management, and / or asset management is also highly sought after.
An ecological parks and / or conservation land management qualification(s) or similar would be highly desirable along with other appropriate licences to support public safety and environmental protection.
