We currently have an immediate need for a Software Test Automation Engineer in New Zealand

PURPOSE

Provide software test development expertise to Software Engineering Group project.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

INTERNAL

  • Liaison with software development team engineers
  • Liaison with software test engineers
  • Liaison with Systems and PLM teams as required
  • As required
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze software testing needs and contribute to software test plans.
  • Performing software test analysis and specification tasks.
  • Develop and maintain software / scripts for Automated Test Systems.
  • Maintain and extend the software test automation framework.
  • Active participation in agile processes and rituals.
  • Software testing tasks, as required.
  • Generation of software test specifications.
  • Software test maintenance and support activities, as required.
  • Software test configuration control activities, as required.
  • Other software testing activities, as required.
  • OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing necessary software test automation expertise on selected projects, as required.
  • Application of software quality assurance practices.
  • Contributing towards process improvement.

  • QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma, B.Sc., or B.E. degree will normally be expected.
  • Non-graduates may be considered where a proven track record as an effective software test automation engineer can be provided.
  • TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

    Knowledge of the following is essential for this position :

  • Python scripting experience.
  • Linux experience.
  • Software testing practices and principles.
  • Software development life cycle.
  • Agile software development practices.
  • Networking communications and protocols.
  • Knowledge of the following is desirable for this position :

  • Understanding of digital electronics and wireless technologies.
  • Quality standards, ideally ISO 9001, ISO 9000-3 or TL-9000.
  • Version Manager and Issue tracking tools (eg Git, Gitlab, Jama or JIRA).
  • The following skills are essential for this position :

  • Good skills in diagnosing problems and reporting relevant data.
  • Well-developed analysis and design skills.
  • Excellent written documentation skills.
