Pact is currently looking for a permanent Community Support Worker for our youth service in Invercargill.

The Role

We are looking for someone with a passion to work alongside youth clients recovering from mental illness. You must be understanding, observant, non-judgemental and easily adaptable to a dynamic environment.

We are seeking someone who will inspire, be a role model have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate resilience, integrity and professionalism.

Your role will include promoting the well-being of clients, maintaining a therapeutic environment, supporting clients to achieve independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Encourage client participation
  • Assistance with daily house tasks
  • Support individuals to achieve their goals
  • Maintain social, health, education and whanau connection
  • Ensure client processes are accurately documented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive, patient and enthusiastic personality
  • Overnight awake shifts

  • Mon, Tue, Fri & Sat.
  • Position 1 : 69 hours per fortnight
  • Position 2 : 16 hours per fortnight
  • Desired Skills and Experience

    You must be an energetic person with a 'can do' attitude. Previous professional experience in the mental health field and experience of working with youth will be an advantage.

    A level 4 or other relevant qualification in mental health is desirable but not essential. Otherwise, there is an expectation that you will be willing to start working towards obtaining a level 4 mental health qualification after your first year of employment.

  • A full driver's licence and computer skills are essential.
  • If on a work visa, this must be valid for at least twelve months
  • If shortlisted, you must be available for an interview in Invercargill.
