In pursuit of excellence, the Faculty of Dentistry seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor of Dentistry.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for an academic to establish themselves leading a new, purpose built clinic of one of the leading dental school’s in the world.

The University of Otago is one of New Zealand’s largest and most research-intensive universities. Founded in 1907, the Faculty of Dentistry is based at the University’s main campus in Dunedin and is the only dental school in New Zealand.

It is proud of its international reputation for research, clinical, and academic excellence.

The Role

The University is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor of Dentistry.

Responsibilities of the role include :

  • Conduct high quality research.
  • Deliver teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • Contribute to curriculum design at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • Engagement with all disciplines within the Faculty.
  • Be a dentist registerable with the Dental Council (New Zealand), preferably with a specialist qualification, or extensive experience in general dentistry.
  • The successful applicant will preferably hold :

  • A proven track record of internationally peer-reviewed research.
  • Excellent teaching skills at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Ability to provide specialist patient care.
  • A collegial approach.
  • Associate Professor : Hold a specialist qualification, be a forward thinking active researcher with an internationally recognised and proven record of research accomplishment demonstrated by publication outputs, and who holds a PhD.
  • Senior Lecturer : Hold a specialist qualification or have a strong, proven background in general dentistry practice, and ideally with an internationally recognized and proven record of research accomplishment.

    This is a full time, permanent (confirmation path) position.
