  • The role of Forensic Accountant will be to provide forensic accounting services in support of serious and complex economic crime investigations;
  • review and audit a range of accounting related evidence and financial records from a variety of sources, for the purposes of identifying proceeds of crime, money laundering, and other matters related to serious economic crimes;
  • provide reports suitable for supporting and securing prosecutions, including the preparation of sworn affidavits and presentation of evidence in court hearings;
  • provide the police with credible professional opinions and expert evidence for the purpose of successfully prosecuting economic crime.

    support and enhance our investigations. They will work closely with the investigation teams and be immersed in the investigations.

    You will maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the file over the life of the investigation and prosecution. You will participate in continuing professional development training programmes provided by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand to maintain knowledge about current laws in areas of specialisation, regulations, new methods and technologies, financial and accounting issues, and market trends within and outside New Zealand.

    You will provide training, guidance and advice to other organisations and industry groups on serious and economic crime including money laundering, financial transaction reporting and financial investigative techniques, as required.

    You will be based on level one at 323 Great South Road, Auckland and report to the Detective Senior Sergeant position. NOCG has a flat and approachable management structure and a consultative work environment where everyone is encouraged to contribute. Key Accountabilities :

  • The structuring and managing of large and complex electronic files.
  • Utilizing IMT to enhance the management of the file, property, disclosure and administrative functions.
  • Enables investigators to locate documents and relevant intelligence efficiently.
  • Liaises with our Intel unit, district staff, CMC, ARU, Surveillance and Covert groups.
  • Interagency liaison with the Crown, Customs, and the Telco's.
  • Be able to draft search warrants and production orders.
  • Communicating relevant information with the investigation team.
