About the roleOur Information Services team works to provide both technical and functional support to our internal teams.

We currently have an opportunity for a Service Desk Coordinator to join our team at New Zealand Steel. We are using new technology to better service both our existing and future customers and champion strong customer relationships and service delivery.

  • This role is based in the Service Desk team at Glenbrook (Franklin region)Responsibilities will include but not limited to;
  • Working as part of the Service Desk to manage calls and initiate immediate resolution or escalate to the appropriate personAssisting end users with computer related issuesSet up PCs and laptops for users, deploy, migrate users, address warranty and hardwaresupport issues, recover devices at end-of-life and recycle.

    Arrange and monitor backups for mainframe and serversEssential - provide an on-call service during unmanned Service Desk hours for week nights, weekends and Public Holidays, by roster with other Service Desk support staff.

  • About the personAlong with the ability to learn the required skills on the job and produce high quality work in a timely manner, the successful applicant will have;
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilityExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPriority setting and planningBe a team player, able to relate to and develop relationships with a wide cross section of key internal teams / customersCustomer focusPrevious Service Desk or Customer Service experience would be a distinct advantage.

    Computer skills are a requirement for this position together with a good aptitude for development in service desk and computer operations and a willingness to learn new IT skillsYou must have the right to work and be residing in New Zealand at the time of your application.
