Do you love working with children? Do you have the passion to inspire a staff team?

We are looking for passionate Team Leaders who are forward thinking and very organised to lead our OSCAR staff and run the Oscar Programmes.

We offer up to 20 hours a week, which includes working Monday- Friday 2.15pm till 6pm. Possible before School Care and Additional work available in the school holidays depending on which site you are assigned to.

What will you be doing?

  • Adhering to strict compliance with all aspects of the OSCAR Policies & Procedures
  • Specific job and safeguarding training with opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Implementation of the daily programme
  • Actively participate and interact with children and their parents / caregivers
  • Set up and clean-up activities and facility areas used by children
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect whilst providing positive encouragement
  • Always act as a good role model to children, volunteers and other staff
  • As this role is working with children, there will be ongoing training that you will be required to complete.
  • What experience / skills do you need?

  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Empathy for children
  • At least 1 years’ experience in working with children
  • Leadership experience (managing people / staff in a work environment)
  • General work experience covering lines of responsibility and work ethics
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Passion for working with people of all ages
  • Organised and able to be level-headed when things do not go to plan
  • Drivers Licence
  • Due to NZ Government MSD Specialist Accreditation Standard we require persons of 20 years or older for this specific role.

    YMCA North is committed to Child Protection and the safeguarding of children and young people in our care and it is our expectation that all staff will operate in a way that reflects this intent.

    Staff will be required to attend Safeguarding workshops, trainings and online modules to comply with YMCA North Safeguarding Policy.
