Rewrite the rules with Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu : An exciting opportunity for two experienced Senior Planners.

We are looking for capable and experienced planners with the drive, skills, and ability to :

  • Lead and deliver effective planning solutions for Ngāi Tahu whānui :
  • mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei" (for us and our children after us).

  • Work with Papatipu Rūnanga to protect and build on the outcomes of the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act.
  • Make a professional difference in a wide range of statutory and non-statutory planning processes across the Ngāi Tahu takiwā (tribal area).
  • Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu is the organisation that works to uphold the tribe's statutory rights and ensures that the benefits of the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement grow for the future generations.

    These key roles include taking part in a wide range of planning processes across the takiwā including local government planning and policy frameworks, proposals of regional or national significance, Department of Conservation plans, large resource consents, and collaborative water management initiatives.

    As part of Te Ao Tūroa team, these roles focus on providing professional environmental planning advice to Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu while also working closely with our 18 Papatipu Rūnanga and their Regional Environmental Entities.

    To be successful in these unique and highly rewarding positions you will have :

  • A minimum of 5 years+ experience and a demonstrated track record of delivering outcomes in dynamic working environments.
  • Proven professional planning credentials and experience.
  • Strong awareness of and affinity for the values and aspirations of Ngāi Tahu whānui.
  • Freshwater or District Planning experience would be advantageous.
  • Proven relationship building skills.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
