Programme Manager

  • Lead and manage work programmes across Māori, Communities and Partnerships
  • Provide high quality advice in a varied, challenging and highly rewarding role

  • The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is the lead agency for the social sector. We help the Government to set priorities across the sector, co-ordinate the actions of other social sector agencies and track changes in the social wellbeing of New Zealanders.

    The Programme Manager will be responsible for leading and managing a variety of Service and Contract Management programmes / projects and is accountable for the successful delivery of new capabilities.

    In this newly created role, you will initiate and deliver a range of programmes that have been allocated to the project delivery group based in Māori, Communities and Partnerships, and MSD priorities.

    The Programme Manager may be responsible for managing multiple projects and / or programmes in parallel.

    To be successful in this role, you will need :

  • Demonstrated use of recognised project and programme methodology and tools or extensive experience in business project / change management role
  • Understand the key strategic issues facing the Ministry and Government priorities
  • Lead and support work programmes on a broad range of issues in service and contract management
  • Highly developed analytical skills with the ability to provide robust recommendations
  • Extensive experience in management of complex work programmes and leading teams preferably in the public sector
  • Proven experience of managing complex relationships, both internally and externally, with the ability to establish credibility at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and in writing
