An exciting opportunity hasbecome available for a driven and commercially minded Design Estimator to joinour Design Team based in Hamilton.

You will be providing network and customerinitiated works design and tendering services in accordance with customerrequirements within the greater Waikato and Bay of Plenty region.

The Role

Reporting to the DesignEstimation Manager, you’ll be providing exceptional customer service to ourcurrent and potential clients at all times, face to face and through email andphone communication.

As a Design Estimator, you will :

  • Be responsible for design, pricing, planning and tender preparation for projects in the electrical distribution sector.
  • This could be LV, HV or underground depending on your experience.

  • Assess, develop and implement the most cost effective and efficient methodology and procedures; without compromising safety, environmental and quality requirements
  • Ensure peer reviews are completed prior to submission to ensure design and pricing is accurate and compliant
  • Ensure the handover of documentation and drawings to the Project team for works awarded to Northpower, is thorough and timely
  • Liaise with the project delivery team to ensure that they are fully aware of the scoped work requirements
  • Identify potential problems and / or delays and communicate proactively to clients and customers
  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships with internal and external customers

    To be successful in this role, ideally you’ll have experience in scopingand estimating projects in either an electrical, utilities or constructionspace.

    You will need to be comfortable liaising with multiple people anddepartments, detail-focussed and able to see the bigger picture.

    Also, you willhave a great work attitude and willingness to be part of and work cohesivelywith other team members. You’ll also have :

  • Previous experience and knowledge of electricity distribution network and electricity regulations
  • Previous experience in electrical design and estimating is preferable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Great computer skills with intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of working on a customer management system like SAP (preferable not essential)
