NZ Post operates an integrated network where items are delivered safely, in the most cost-effective and profitable manner based on the class of service the customer has paid for.

The Strategy and Operational Excellence team are responsible for ensuring that the capabilities for this are defined, built and maintained in such a way that decentralised operations can utilise these to meet the defined service, safety and cost outcomes.

We are now seeking applications for the newly created role of Continuous Improvement Manager or Specialist to join the team.

Kōreromōtetūranga - About the role

The main purpose of the role is to promote Operational Excellence and help setup our standardised ways of working through leading development and deployment of a fully integrated Management Operating System (MOS) framework.

You'll also support implementation of robust performance management and improvement practices, setting goals and addressing variances.

We are open to someone either at Senior or Specialist level, and therefore your accountabilities will be slightly different depending on the level of role you're successful in.

You'll be accountable for :

Designing, implementing and embedding (or supporting the design of) a fully functioning Management Operating System (MOS) that enables clear line of sight from COO to front-line of operational objectives, performance insights, gaps and improvement opportunity.

Ensuring and driving alignment and standardisation of operational practices, systems and robust performance management including reporting across the network.

Playing a lead (or key) role in the enablement of a high performance, high engagement culture by embedding habitual operating rhythms and practices.

This role is ideally Auckland based.

Mōu - About You

Ideally you will bring the following skills and experience :

Previous experience in the design and rollout of a Management Operating System across a multi-faceted organisation,

Experience in the design and implementation of structured performance management tools e.g. Value Driver Trees, Value Chain Analysis,

Sound knowledge and experience implementing PDCA methodologies into operational practices,

Experience in operational implementation of Continuous Improvement practices,

Highly skilled at MS Office applications especially in use of MS Excel for data analysis and MS PowerPoint,

Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills and an ability to foster strong working relationships,

Experience in domestic or international large-scale logistics operations,

Commercially astute, with a strong background in ensuring the success of business performance.

In addition to this experience you'll hold qualifications in business management, operational management or business-related discipline or similar work experience along with an advanced level Continuous Improvement qualification such as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.

Though not essential, a Data Analytics qualification or certificate and change management qualification or similar work experience is desirable.
