Auckland City, AucklandWhat you will doThe NZDF Explosive Ordnance Technician is responsible for the issue, receipt, inspection, maintenance, assembly, repair and breakdown of Explosive Ordnance in the depot.
In addition, you will also be required to assist with logistic disposal and explosive stevedoring operations.What we needWe are ideally looking for a person with experience as an explosive ordnance technician level 1.
You may have been previously employed by NZDF as an Army Ammunition Technician, Air Force Armament Technician or civilian Explosive Ordnance Technician.
We realise this experience and skills are hard to find, so we would also consider a person who can demonstrate good mechanical knowledge and a sound technical background.
Due to the nature of the role, you will be handling and maintaining complex items, so you need to be able to interpret technical publications and drawings, aiding the maintenance of these items.
Meticulous attention to detail is key.In addition to the practical skills, we are also seeking a person with very good interpersonal skills who can relate to a wide range of people and operate in small teams.
Naturally within this environment, you will need the ability to maintain a high level of concentration and heightened situational awareness at all times, when handling or working with explosives or chemicals.
Stevedoring / dogman duties also form part of this role. It would be preferable if you have a class 2 driver's licence with Dangerous Goods and Forklift Endorsements.
A full driver licence is essential for this role and there is occasional travel outside of Auckland; typically to Waiouru.
Who we areDefence Munitions Management Group (DMMG) is responsible for : The delivery of all depot level logistic functions associated with the safe procurement, introduction into service, inventory management, storage, maintenance, distribution and disposal of all NZDF ammunition, explosives and associated non-
compliance and governance; and technical advice.Providing appropriate advice and technical guidance for single service munitions policies and procedures in respect of ammunition technical training.
