The IT Projects Team is responsible for the planning, designing, and commissioning new and updated enterprise level IT infrastructure and services across NIWA's science and support business.
Most commonly this involves Microsoft and LINUX platforms and some 'Cloud' solutions. Everyone in the team needs to maintain a keen awareness of developments in the IT industry, propose strategies to enhance regional and NIWA-
wide IT services and contribute to the technical design and implementation of these services.
We are looking for an experienced, motivated, disciplined, and reliable IT System Engineer requiring minimal supervision.
You will be involved in most aspects of the development and replacement lifecycle of IT Services to ensure the overall quality of NIWA Systems.
This is a development role and most services are handed over to IT Operations for ongoing support as soon as practical.
You will work closely with our other Systems Engineers and Specialists, particularly the IT Operations team, to ensure the services delivered integrate well with existing systems, are secure, easy to use and maintain and meet the customer's needs.
You will have a minimum of a decade of practical experience working with complex IT systems with strengths in the architecture and development of IT infrastructure and services using the Microsoft technology stack.
A portion of the role will require experience with IT project management, SharePoint development and Microsoft scripting and development (eg.
PowerShell, PowerApps, Flow Nintex).
